The seaside, sunny town of rich history

Herceg Novi is located at the south Adriatic Sea, at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. It was founded 600 years ago, in the year 1382. Today, the main city landmarks are its various cultural and historical monuments, such as the impressive fortresses built during the times of Turkish, Spanish and Austro-Hungarian rule. The climate in Herceg Novi is mild-Mediterranean. It is one of the cities with the most sunny days in Europe and a home to more than 260 plant species from all around the world.

The town is located at the foothills of the Orjen mountain. The mountain offers many recreational and leisure activities such as tracking, running, hiking paths, an adventure park, picnic areas. Thanks to its warm and pleasant climate, the town hosts various social events and manifestations even during the winter months. One of these is the famous Mimosa Festival, which made Herceg Novi known all around Europe. During the Mimosa Festival in February and March many sports and cultural manifestations are held across the town, honoring this beautiful flower.

Herceg Novi also has the longest and the most beautiful Montenegrin promenade “Pet Danica”, which is 7 km long and follows the town's coastline. The town is surrounded by many tourist destinations and sights that are well connected by buses and boats. Mamula island, the Luštica peninsula, Bay of Kotor, Perast town are just a few of these treasures that will make you feel the true spirit of Herceg Novi and the Montenegro.
